About Us

We develop innovative, accessible therapies that enhance quality of life for patients living with rare medical conditions.

We Don’t Just Develop Therapies.
We Change Lives.

Patients living with rare hematological malignancies and other rare diseases must often endure countless IV treatments administered in a clinical setting. The time and travel burdens associated with facility-based treatments — each taking several hours to complete — can leave patients feeling as if they are living in captivity.

At Quetzal Therapeutics, our work centers on developing breakthrough therapies that improve patients’ lives. Through cutting-edge science and pioneering innovation, we're pushing the boundaries of modern treatments to give patients access to therapies designed to be effective and stable that can be administered as a part of their normal daily routine, wherever they live. Our lead product, QTX-2101, a novel oral treatment for Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL) is currently being evaluated in a Phase III clinical trial. In addition, we are developing QTX-2102, an early-stage next-generation antifungal and antiparasitic therapy designed to enhance efficacy while minimizing toxicity. It is our mission to reduce the burdens associated with rare disease treatment and restore freedom for patients living with rare medical conditions.

Why the Quetzal?

The resplendent quetzal (Pharomachrus mocinno), found primarily in the cloud forests of southern Mexico and Central America, is considered one of the rarest and most beautiful birds in the world.

We chose the quetzal as a symbol of our mission to provide freedom to patients living with rare hematologic malignancies and rare diseases through decentralized, accessible medicines that enable them to thrive.
